Connections to Independence (C2i) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating two transitional housing locations in the heart of North Minneapolis for BIPOC foster youth aging out of the child welfare system, including single mothers. The grant funded essential basic needs including rental assistance, food security, Metro bus and train cards, mental health and wellness support, and childcare supplies such as car seats, diapers, formula, and hygiene products for young mothers. Approximately 89% of participants are Black and 62% are female, and all are at 200% below the federal poverty guidelines.
